Environmental policy is the collective responsibility of the Directors & is managed through the Senior Geophysicist as part of general operational strategy. All policy is subject to regular review, at least annually & after any event deemed adverse to the environment whether covered by the policy or not.
All subcontractors are expected to demonstrate a similar awareness of the environment, either through submission of a written assessment or during induction at the start of work.
The following clauses summarise the underlying principles of environmental policy within ArchaeoPhysica:
Work proceeds according to a written environmental impact statement for larger projects or where specific risks have been identified. For smaller projects a generic statement is used unless it is clear specific risks do exist.
All fieldwork is conducted within a general green site policy, e.g., there should be no lasting trace of our presence once work has been completed, unless specified instructed to do otherwise, e.g., the installation of permanent datum markers, etc.
Care is taken to avoid accidental damage through spills, disruption of the ground surface, etc by suitable management of high-risk activities like off-road vehicle access, fuel or battery acid spillage, etc.
Where possible, biodegradable materials are used on sites to ensure that if left they will pose no long-term hazard or be a risk to livestock, etc.
