An aerial photograph showed two large enclosures within an arable field, one having distinctive in-turned ditch terminals & the smaller a diameter of about 40m with no obvious entrance. A magnetic survey of the whole site was undertaken & numerous subtle features found that are not visible from the air.

A programme of excavation is underway & so far has found high status Roman-era pottery in the ditch of the larger enclosure while the smaller seems to be multiphase with evidence for central structures & some sort of industrial activity. The excavation has been subject to extensive magnetic susceptibility surveys, including two profiles 2m deep across the ditch of the smaller enclosure. Within the larger enclosure the magnetic survey has detected separate enclosures, like paddocks, as if it was a farm complex.
