Make a bid for some survey time!
This is our invitation for you to bid for a research survey.

We recognise that within archaeology in particular there is a need to prospect & record the landscape for a variety of reasons but there isn't always the budget to fund survey.

So, if you have a potential project & would like to put it forward as a bid in our quarterly auction, please read on!

Bids should be made in writing (post or email) to arrive by the end of March, June, September & December.

All bids will remain confidential.

Our contact details are available here.

What do we need from you?
  • A summary of what you know & why you need a survey
  • A statement of available funding
  • Evidence of your commitment to the project (e.g., membership of a research or other community group)
Bids are assessed on the basis of...
  • The potential contribution of the survey to local & national knowledge
  • The suitability of the site & local environment for survey
  • The degree of funding that is available relative to the amount of work required
Please note we are not bound to accept any bid & reserve the right to suggest alternative ways to satisfy your objective. Development-generated projects will not normally be considered although subsequent follow-up work may be eligible.

Feel free to use our online request form to initiate your bid.

We welcome your involvement in this unique & pioneering initiative
