Exploranium KT5 Magnetic Susceptibility Meter

This rather handy instrument measures the magnetic susceptibility within a 6cm radius hemisphere about its head, ideal for obtaining accurate & discrete measurements for provenancing soil & rock. It is easier to use & generally more convenient that the Bartington MS2 which has historically been more popular, at least in the UK.

A newer version is available, the KT9, which has a protruding pin for point sampling; other than that it is essentially the same as this version. It produces instantaneous measurements using two coincident coils. The only disadvantage is that there is no facility for logging the data to a field computer & hence large scale sampling strategies require the typing of lots of numbers. That said, the Bartington MS2 is no better in this respect.
