GSSI SIR-2000 Ground Penetrating Radar

The GSSI SIR-2000 is a user-friendly system (now with a newer version, the 3000) which allows radar surveys to be undertaken in a wide range of conditions. There are two parts, the console with the logging & drive electronics & the transducer with is towed behind the surveyor & contains the transmitting & receiving antennae. The rotation of a calibrated survey wheel allows accurate distances along each survey line to be incorporated into the data & sampling rates can be set to produce a fixed number of pulses per meter for example.

Radar survey is ideal for the detection & location of buried masonry, floors, voids etc. beneath solid surfaces or within buildings. It can also be used for producing slices through materials like sand & gravel.
